Success!

Every Spring when the March of Dimes walk comes around we love to support my cousin Codi, her husband Blake, and their daughter Lucy who was born at 1 lb 5 oz, 10 weeks early because of an IUGR. She is about the cutest thing that walks the earth. Red curls and all...

My mom came up with the brilliant idea this year to have a bake sale and donate the money earned to March of Dimes. Many of us baked up a STORM and had the best time doing it all. From making lists to packaging, it all came together, even on a rainy day.

In the beginning we were a bit nervous as we stared at three giant tables full to the brim of baked goods, and no one was biting. But Caitlin held our sign up on the road and it caught some attention!

It was a great way to bring our family together and show them how much we care about Lucy's cause.

Soon enough we had a steady stream of takers and before we knew it we were running out of things to sell... hopefully we'll get even more people next year as this should become a tradition for sure.

As my mom and I started counting the money, we guessed maybe $200 or $300 would be the total. Our final donation was almost $800 and we were all stunned. Watch for some amazingly tasty treats around MayDay of 2011!

Over the weekend came time for the walk, Go Team LucyBug!

Lots of supporters

My cute mom and dad

Crosby in love with the trains, of course!

Love you, Luce!

Thinking About Bangladesh

D's mom just now got her pictures back from Bangladesh. Looking through them was so fun; I can't believe D and I were actually there. Rumi (below) is D's cousin's daughter. After meeting her I was wanting to find a way to fit her in my suitcase and get her a modeling gig in the states, she is GORGEOUS! And just as kind.

On the right is D's cousin, her husband, D's aunt, and Rumi.

And speaking of beautiful... D's other cousin's two kids... the little girl's name is Pianti, which I think suits her well. They were the most darling kids. It would be cool to go back someday.

May Day Bake Sale for Team LucyBug!

Can you believe tomorrow is May Day? May is already here, despite what the snow is trying to tell us here in Salt Lake!

Tomorrow we are hosting a HUGE Bake Sale as a fundraiser for March for Babies, for my niece Lucy's team...

PLEASE COME BY! Even if you spend 2 dollars, it will be worth it: we have everything from fresh banana bread to warm cinnamon rolls to delicious cupcakes and cookies of ALL kinds... there will even be some Whoopie Pie, so this can't be missed. Treats kids will love too. Everything will be packaged really cute so the treats can be given as gifts!

The Bake Sale is happening tomorrow May 1st from 9 am - Noon at 1830 East 1300 South in Salt Lake. Bring your friends and Happy May Day!

I...

- Can't stop eating blueberries

- Get unbelievably excited when my half.com or Amazon shipments come in the mail

- Think that bathrobes for babies are ADORABLE, but babies grow out of them too fast

- Have more ideas for Mother's Day this year than any other year

- Am astounded at the scene Crosby caused at Toys R Us last night when we pulled him away from the Thomas display. Haven't been there for YEARS and will not go again for hopefully many more years. Luckily we were able to distract him with the turtle sandbox we bought... he loves it already and it doesn't even have sand in it yet

- Ate probably half a bag of M&M's today (and this is not the single-serving bag I'm talking about)

- Think kissing pictures of D and me look weird, because the way we look in the photo doesn't reflect how I think we would look when we are actually kissing (from a wedding in February)

- AM PREGNANT! (for those of you who don't already know!) Come October we will be blessed with a new little one and we are as ecstatic as can be.

I have no idea whose baby this is! Cross your fingers I won't get too swollen this summer... UGH. But after enduring the turmoil of pregnancy and birth for the first time, it makes sense I would do it again for someone even remotely like this:

XOXO Crosby! We love you so much and can't wait for you to have a brother or sis!

Vague Thoughts as of Late

Lately D and I have racked our brains trying to come up with the best solution for his mom. I can't begin to sum up the situation; it's complicated no matter how simply or realistically or logically or patiently it is approached. So hard to hit these road blocks in life! Staying up late nights, going in circles. In general, I hate when with any given problem... after you talk about it endlessly... the subject becomes numb after a while and you really just want to cut it off like... I don't know, a dead toe?

Speaking of which, I have not felt very "brainy" lately. Everybody goes through those times. Please tell me it's true! I attempt to don one of these:

But to no avail. Thinking caps do nothing for me anymore. They used to, but I feel like a vacant lot walking around, talking in circles these days. Feeling like not much of what I feel/want to do/need accomplished has any path for success. Can't wait for some of that fresh spring air we've been promised to whirl its way into my stagnant old winter-worn mind!

Codi - Crosby has developed a love affair with the birthday apron. He calls it his "cake" and prefers to wear it with nothing underneath.

Thus it is totally worth the back shot. And thank you, because FINALLY I can get him to wear a bib of some kind when he eats his oatmeal!

Crosby has been calling his grandma "Munga" for quite some time now. It is officially her name now. D no longer addresses his mother as "mom." It's Munga. And she and Croz love to watch Land Before Time together. It's funny - sometimes they almost resemble dinosaurs, with their necks outstretched, waiting to see what happens next :)

This would be an example of my "dead brainedness" going on lately... feeling the crafting urge but this is as far as it got: a collage of my trip with Jess! Still I love it though!

My mom is in the know when it comes to cool things to do as a fam on a Saturday. We hit the TOSH open house and scored with "health food swag" and free rides up to the fire engine tower. Crosby is in love with fire engines; it was unspeakably cute to see him literally dancing in front of it and patting the enormous wheels over and over with the most satisfied smile. It was as if the fire truck was a new puppy; he couldn't keep his hands off of it!

This is a special shot: Claire is SMILING!

Da boyz

As the Life Flight helicopter chopped its way over to land, not only did the debris about knock Crosby over, but the sheer sight of it... he was in awe. I had to go over as a sucker spotter; he almost lost it.

As soon as they landed everyone went over to explore and ask questions and 30 seconds into it they said, "Back up, we've got a call, we have to leave now!" Busy day for Life Flight. Really it was quite moving to silently watch them fly in. Kind of like when I hear the national anthem at a parade or say the Pledge of Allegiance... really a neat experience and it makes you grateful for people who spend their lives helping other people.

Churchgoer

He's too on the move; Crosby's pics turn out blurry most of the time now. But this is his Spring/Easter shirt! White with pink/black plaid... I will be extremely sad when this doesn't fit him anymore.

PS. I had to do a Walmart run today. I saw what appeared to be HUNDREDS and hundreds of those already-wrapped Easter baskets. Do they really sell all of them? Do they just recycle them every year?
