Time Limits

Since I have to get to bed early tonight, I must say I am having blog withdrawal! I have plenty of pictures, plenty to say... but NO TIME! Yoga. Reading time with Crosby. Outside time with Croz. Yoga. Time with D. Make dinner. Make Crosby's breakfast since he needs eggs for protein once in a while. Yoga. Eat. Phone calls. Baby showers. Play dates. Family in town. Yoga. Find out who's stealing my laundry detergent. Yoga. Do I have emails? Open the mail. Bills. Oh we need milk. Two hours later that day: oops we also need contact solution and bread. Weeds need pulling, trees need pruning, garbages need emptying and if I had a job I obviously would have to make it work but man, life is busy even still.

I will say how much I adore Crosby's concentration face

And his swim hair

And the chance we have to spend time together outside

Happy last days of summer to all!

Responsible

We throw our dirty tennis shoes and flip flops in containers right when we get in the house, and I love how Crosby found my heels and put them in there. He's starting to show little signs of tidiness, and it is so sweet.

Love you baby guy. You are growing up faster than ever!

Let's do this Thing!

So in yoga class the other day we had a true drill sergeant. She is the instructor I ALWAYS have the best (hardest, but worth it) classes with and I have some serious mental/spiritual/physical breakage going on. I wish everyone I knew would try this yoga for 10 days straight and if it does nothing for you, fine. But you'll see. This one instructor I'm talking about (who, Mr. Kondrick I am happy to announce, looks like a 50/50 combo of Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie) was saying how she is so passionate about this yoga practice because it is efficient. All in 90 minutes you get therapy, weight training, spiritual turnaround, and cardio. AMazinG! And I agree wholeheartedly, that is why I have become obsessed with it. No, really. Today was my 65th class... I've been keeping track! And yesterday I tapped into the masochistic little part of my heart and decided to enroll in the studio's 30 day challenge which is going to be a beast but I have to do it because my name and picture are now up on the board with a scant 4 other people. We put smiley stickers like 5 year olds on a chart and they are keeping track! I have to attend class 6 days a week until I think August 14th. Sundays off, wohoo.

So Jodi and Caitlin and... um I don't think anyone else has expressed interest but ANYONE else interested, please try it! There are so many wonderful things but besides the healing, strength, flexibility, and energy it gives you... this very specific type of yoga is for EVERYONE... ANYONE. That is my favorite thing. There are time slots all throughout the day, so you can make it work. Starting 6 am all the way till 8 pm, different times. It is 90 minutes dedicated to no one but you. Any age, any size, any level of fitness (or no level of fitness), any condition (even injured)... it is literally for everyone.

Now I say everyone, but check out this pregnant lady:

Kudos to her. But really. When and if I get pregnant again, I will not be cooking my little embryo in a 113-degree room! I have seen three fully pregnant women doing Bikram though, and often. I think they are so brave.

Anyway, my other favorite thing lately in class: this posture. Standing separate leg stretching. It feels INCREDIBLE. Not only does this one feel so great to do, but now that I've finally learned how to do it correctly I think it looks mighty pretty! There's nothing like watching yourself and the entire class swoop down in perfect synch to do this posture. Love it! Here are some different shots, including how it looks from the side.

Loving the Summer

Traditional "Girls' Sleepover" - Nerd Edition

D and I were folding laundry and heard a strange sound coming from our bedroom

Look how innocent.

We took our time with the cleanup, Crosby enjoyed some breakfast while working on his Cheerio art skills

Steph, Amy, and me... Steph was housesitting at this place with a HUGEscreen TV = movie night! I have to admit, my hair has never looked this fantastic

Every July... tradition

Every year at the Scottish festival it's something different. One year I focused on making it there for the morning bagpipe parade, one year I focused on buying as many Christmas presents in advance as possible... this year was all about kilt fashion

And checking out the games for more than 2 minutes

These are some fashionistas you don't wanna mess with

Cute kilt fashion duet

Scottish lassies

My (grandmother's) clan... "Never Behind"

July 11th was my friend Natalie's wedding at Red Butte. It was a unique and beautiful ceremony, and such perfect weather. (Her little brother died in 2000 in a motorcycle accident, and that is who the picture is of).

First kiss as husband and wife!

Nat and I go all the way back to '96, yo! SOooooo long ago! I was so happy to be at her wedding... it was a bittersweet day. On June 27th Natalie's mom was in a horrid car accident and is still in the ICU in critical condition. Her mom is the cutest lady, and she and Natalie are so close... what courage to carry on with her wedding day even though her mom couldn't be there.

I loved the contrast of yellow and cobalt blue

And check out this cake!

And check out their honeymoon ride...

Love you Nat!

Her dress was incredible. What a dress for dancing!

I started out with D as my date but then he had to head back to work after a couple of hours.

So I just traded dates. My second date of the night was not at all interested in the festivities, only gazing at the water fountain.

Suman and Lindsay are in town and we were so excited to give Suman his tablas from Bangladesh and Lindsay her sari. The boys hung out in the living room while the girls got dressed up

... for the photo shoot! We even found a way to make a little sari for Eden!

Crosby and Uncle Suman... anyone for summer snuggles at sunset?

All of us in our saris

Sugar Snap Peas

are my favorite vegetable right now. I am usually a fruits over vegetables kind of person (so is Crosby) but these puppies are just so delicious. I love them! So do D and Crosby, which is a plus to find one thing we all will eat. Croz sat there last night and sucked the juice out of them, begging for more. So crisp, so good... perfect summer food.

Baby Beluga

is Crosby's latest FAVORITE book. Today so far he has asked, or in his language, "MMmmmmm?ed" me to read it four times. I grew up on Raffi songs and with Baby Beluga being one of them, it holds a sweet childhood spot in my heart so I knew I'd want Croz to have some Raffi in his life. This is his favorite page:

He sees those bears and growls really low, it is hilarious. Last night I babysat Cam's kids and Brig called that killer whale with a horn a tunafish. Grant said all condescendingly, "A unicorn fish?" Anyway, I sing the book to Crosby because it is a song made into a book and he absolutely adores it. It is also one of his lullabies if he needs to be calmed down.

When D and I found out we were pregnant with Crosby and told Jon and Susan (my uncle and aunt), I remember Susan got a big smile on her face and started singing, "Baby Barua, Baby Barua," as a little twist on the Baby Beluga song. So I've always felt it has even more special meaning for us (;

Bits and Pieces

Last week we saw the Bollywood dance concert at Red Butte Garden; it was really fun! After about halfway through, Crosby chowed down on chicken nuggets outside in the picnic area.

D would have fit right in if he would have worn his Bengali attire

Lucy remembered her Bengali attire

These little girls were all dressed up with flowers in their hair, ready to dance!

D and C at Red Butte

I absolutely love to hang out with Crosby. We have so much fun together. He is so lucky to have so many toys...

Lucy came over the other day to show Croz some new ideas on how to use his toys, such as the screwdriver and Home Depot fanny pack.

Grant and his sparkler

Claire too

And Brig, so excited for fireworks!

My mom (and Beth) give C backscratches and when they do, he falls completely silent and still. Then he says, "more."

Classic Beth

I had Steph take a picture of us but it was on video, whoops

Infamous Sugarhouse fireworks

I am ebaying this vintage Farrah book, any takers?
