Let's do this Thing!

So in yoga class the other day we had a true drill sergeant. She is the instructor I ALWAYS have the best (hardest, but worth it) classes with and I have some serious mental/spiritual/physical breakage going on. I wish everyone I knew would try this yoga for 10 days straight and if it does nothing for you, fine. But you'll see. This one instructor I'm talking about (who, Mr. Kondrick I am happy to announce, looks like a 50/50 combo of Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie) was saying how she is so passionate about this yoga practice because it is efficient. All in 90 minutes you get therapy, weight training, spiritual turnaround, and cardio. AMazinG! And I agree wholeheartedly, that is why I have become obsessed with it. No, really. Today was my 65th class... I've been keeping track! And yesterday I tapped into the masochistic little part of my heart and decided to enroll in the studio's 30 day challenge which is going to be a beast but I have to do it because my name and picture are now up on the board with a scant 4 other people. We put smiley stickers like 5 year olds on a chart and they are keeping track! I have to attend class 6 days a week until I think August 14th. Sundays off, wohoo.

So Jodi and Caitlin and... um I don't think anyone else has expressed interest but ANYONE else interested, please try it! There are so many wonderful things but besides the healing, strength, flexibility, and energy it gives you... this very specific type of yoga is for EVERYONE... ANYONE. That is my favorite thing. There are time slots all throughout the day, so you can make it work. Starting 6 am all the way till 8 pm, different times. It is 90 minutes dedicated to no one but you. Any age, any size, any level of fitness (or no level of fitness), any condition (even injured)... it is literally for everyone.

Now I say everyone, but check out this pregnant lady:

Kudos to her. But really. When and if I get pregnant again, I will not be cooking my little embryo in a 113-degree room! I have seen three fully pregnant women doing Bikram though, and often. I think they are so brave.

Anyway, my other favorite thing lately in class: this posture. Standing separate leg stretching. It feels INCREDIBLE. Not only does this one feel so great to do, but now that I've finally learned how to do it correctly I think it looks mighty pretty! There's nothing like watching yourself and the entire class swoop down in perfect synch to do this posture. Love it! Here are some different shots, including how it looks from the side.

Mad props Lis.

Honestly! You are doing so great with this and I'm happy you're enjoying the benefits. As for me, that second picture makes my back twinge. But I started physical therapy today and once they give me the okay I think I'll ease into the yoga world with hatha. I'm pretty sure if I'm about to pass out SITTING in 101 degrees - MOVING in 113 degrees would require you to give mouth-to-mouth to your cousin!

Is this a particular type of yoga?

I am so siked after reading your posts about this yoga class Alisa! I feel rejuvenated just hearing about it, I love it! I was thinking about when you were telling me about this class just before you went for the first time and I whined to you about how much I hate yoga. You have inspired a change of heart, if I was there I would totally do this with you, but I can't find it in England. Oh well! Keep up the great work- and give that very grown up Crosby a big hug from us!
