Sweet Gene

Yesterday in the morning my great uncle Gene passed away. We will miss him so much! I know he lived an amazing life, and a long one at that. He will be missed but I know that in his last moments he was happy. He has lived with my uncle Jon's family of six for the past ten years. They have taken primo care of him and have given him what he never had: a family. They have bonds that are eternal, and I feel a little sad that I didn't get to develop that kind of relationship with Gene, but it's all part of the journey. Last time I saw Gene was the first weekend in April and we had a gathering at Beth's for lunch in between conference talks. I remember he pretended to grab Crosby's nose and pull it off, with that big grin on his face. The cutest man, and I remember his jokes and when you'd ask how he's doing he'd say, "Fine as frog hair."

We will surely miss you, Gene!

So glad you posted this... I wanted to do the same but didn't have one picture of him. He was such a sweet guy. I'll miss him.

FINALLY!!! Somebody else that uses that phrase. I was starting to think that I had invented it or something. Everybody just gives me weird looks when I say it. :)

My condolenses...

Lis, I think all of us are better people for having Gene in our lives. A great sense of humour, never a complaint and always a smile with twinkling eyes. I know we all have special memories.
