Birthday Buds

Last summer at a family Fourth of July barbecue D and I planned to keep under cover our big secret that we were expecting a baby. D's good friend Jeremy and his wife Amber were there with us because we always spend the Fourth of July with them; tradition calls for it. I was holding my cousin Codi's baby Lucy while talking to Codi and these waves of emotion started pulsing, holding sweet Lucy, warm summer air surrounding me, family all around... I just had to spill the news and so... I did. We hadn't planned to tell anyone at that point but I quietly told my cousin I was pregnant and she said, "Oh Alisa!" and welled up with tears. The rest is history!

Seconds later our friends Jeremy and Amber stood up and said, "We're pregnant too!" The patio was a brewin' at that point and it sticks out in my mind as this joyous, memorable, exhilarating event. When Amber and I got to talking about our due dates the funniest thing happened: we had the EXACT same due date; February 24th. After all's said and done, they had their baby Davis on February 23rd and Crosby came into our lives on February 24th. Our boys are about 7 hours apart.

Yesterday afternoon they came over and since the boys aren't old enough to race yet, we could only measure them, giggle at all their funny facial expressions... they first met at about 6 days old and now they've almost reached 6 weeks. Here's a shot of them at 6 days:
