I Should Be... Writing

Lately I haven't made time to do much for myself besides dink around on the computer a bit and spy on other people's blogs for a few minutes at a time. Normally if the baby is sleeping for an hour or so I have MAYBE three choices: eat, sleep, or shower. Just now I chose to shake things up and revisit my "book cupboard." I am not a material girl by any means and I'd like to say that I would be content when leaving this world to take NONE of it with me EXCEPT for: my Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath. Sylvia's writing speaks to me in a profuse way and it was exactly what I needed this evening! I so enjoyed reading over excerpts that I had highlighted years ago... loved her comment on Spring: "Cheers for spring; for life; for a growing soul." It made me remember how I love to write. Writing, like any skill, is best done after consistent practice so I need to get going and incorporate it into each day as a habit. Loved her idea of what a poem is: "Poems are moment's monuments." She also wrote, "I must be lean and write and make worlds beside this to live in." Wow and she wan't even a new mom yet (: Thanks for the inspiration, Sylvia!

Way to go on finding time to read!! Good for you. I don't think I ever got to that point with just Grant and I wish I did. We are enjoying your blog and can't wait to see the FAM!!

That's some deep stuff. I used to write a little poetry back in the day...but yeah, nothing like that. Mine was mostly about basketball and women. It won me some awards in high school though. The key is to know your audience. :)

I'm glad that you can find a little time to relax. We miss you at work...but given the choice, I'd hang out with my new son too. Enjoy it as much as you can for as long as you can. We understand.

I've never read anything by her, but you inspired me to! I'm glad you're finding some little parts of yourself through all of this change, I bet it's refreshing. Love you-
